Hey,

What I think of why Jesus had to die on the cross, well firstly its because we're all sinners, and if you read Genesis when adam and eve ate the forbidden fruit, God said the punishment for sin was death. Death can be taken in two ways, our relationship with God is now dead and/or only death could connect the relationship with us and God to what it used to be.

God absolutely hates sin we know this if we continue to read the Old testament he wipes out entire nations because of their sinful nature, and the chosen people of the time in order to rid them of their sins they had to sacrifice animals - who took their sins from them (but this isn't permanent, as humans they continue to sin so this possess was a continuous process. Now in the Old testament God promised someone who will take away their sins.

Thus he sent Jesus - his only son, who is the perfect sacrifice because he never sinned. Jesus had to die for us in order for that relationship between us and God could be connected once again.

Hence that's why Jesus couldn't turn the nails into flowers, he needed and wanted to die, for us.

and John 4:16 (NIV) Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. So its only through Jesus are we then saved.

In Mark 8:34 (NIV) "..."If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me" Being a Christian is everyday, not just on Sundays, and is we want to follow him we must live for him each day and do his will, which is to tell more people about him so that through God they may be saved.

Just merely knowing Jesus exist isn't enough James 2:19 (NIV) "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder." - Even demons know that Jesus exist. believing is one thing but accepting repenting and living your life for him is another.

Not quite enough said, there is no proof of Jesus being a Jew.. Its just what is believed. just like the religion itself. Many aspects of Christianity seem very Pagan in many ways, certainly the story of crucifiction and reserection are ancient egyptian, take Osiris, Mithra, Adonis etc.. All born of a virgin, in a stable, their birthday is celebrated on the 25th December, and most certainly the story of Mithra, who predates Christ by 600 years is extremely similar as he's reserection was celebrated at easter. The Baptism ritual that christianity claims as unique to their faith is in fact not.. again, ancient egytians used that ritual often. Its a fact his diciples were Jewish, maybe thats why they often asked Jesus what he was talking about in his teachings, surely if Jesus was a Jew, they'd be familiar with what he was saying, but they were not. Either that or they were very "thick" Jews..

I think we should all read more into other early christian texts and roman also before proclaiming the new testiment as a reliable source of information, which to my experience, it is certainly no such thing.

hi, Corry --

it's a deep mechanism, what Jesus did and why he did it. on the surface, from human psychological understanding, it doesn't make ANY sense at all. zero. none.

seriously, who would allow themselves to be sacrificed in such a grotesque way, and to suffer such an experience as crucifixion???????????? (when he was a great siddha, a supernatural soul who could easily have changed those nails into flowers had he wanted to.) moreover, who would allow all of his close friends and students to turn on him -- either through betrayal or denial -- AND his own people, the Jews, and the Romans, and.... pretty much everyone he knew turned on him in one way or another.

what did he do to deserve this? in my understanding, it goes back to the Mother Divine. yes, the Mother. She whose energy is this entire creation -- She is the 'holy spirit' (in Hebrew the word is feminine, not masculine), the shakti, the creatrix who made all the forms and the bodies and the diverse souls of this world. some call Her Nature, some call Her by different names, Kali, Shekinah, Hecate, Mahamaya, Al'lat. -- the names don't matter. Mother is Mother.

Jesus knew Her intimately -- he was, as I understand it, an expert on Her creation and on Her character, Her way of spinning Illusion and of giving grace in this world.

& he made a deal with Her, a kind of paying it forward, to learn everything he could about Her mechanisms of creation and dissolution, and to be able to share that understanding with humanity. his end of the deal was, alas, the crucifixion.

the more divine something is, the more it is utterly misunderstood by people. especially in this age, the last few thousand years or so, of Kali Yuga, when humanity is at its worst (75% negativity running in the planet, only about 25% divinity).

people who are attracted to the divine, in this age, are often simultaneously repulsed by it because immediately upon contacting such a high fierce divinity, purification starts happening in a person. all their crap comes up and is looking for someone to blame it on. <grinning>

that's why, partly, people have such a strong reaction to Jesus. people attuned to the high divine adore him and what he did, and continues to do, in this world. people out of alignment with the high divine want to run the other way from him. or destroy his character, or his good name, from their ignorance. it's natural -- that is the Illusion of this world operating in and through them.

behind it all, though, Jesus is laughing. like a mother with her children, he knows it's just a matter of time before they figure out what idiots they're being and wake up -- and his energy is utterly committed to waking the souls on this planet up. it's so committed he set an initiation in motion, 2000 years in advance, and sealed the deal with his own blood.

he knew exactly what he was doing.

now it's our turn to catch up and understand it, too.

Many people don't hate Jesus, they are irate about what Christians say and do and have said and done for centuries.

That's different.

That someone doesn't agree with the parts of the Bible they may be aware of, is different than rejecting Jesus.

Some are seeking Christ, though not expressing it in that way, verbally.

I came across the tribe while thinking about the words of a song by Anne Graham Lotz done in conjunction with Fernando Ortega in which one of the lines says that Jesus is the stumbling stone of all religion. (btw-check it out. It's a great song. "Just Give Me Jesus.") Why does everybody hate Jesus? Well, Jesus himself said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 NKJV. As the title of Josh McDowell's book says: "Evidence that Demands a Verdict," if you really study Jesus Christ you must make a verdict. You either accept Him or reject Him, but a personal decision must be made with all the evidence there is. (By the way again-that's also an excellent book. I highly recommend it.)

Hi Corry, this is a great topic. I myself have undergone a bit of a journey when it comes to Jesus. I did the fundementalist thing for several years as a teenager, but when my ideas started to conflict with the Elders, they kicked me out. This was a bit of a shock to my system, so I rejected Christianity pretty strongly, but I was still driven by a need to understand why Christians would act the way so many do. I began to study religious history, and study and study. After reading a lot of books both about Jesus and Christianity I have come to rather like the guy. I am not a Christian, but I feel that I have a better understanding of where Jesus might have been coming from and a deeper appreciation for how revolutionary his teachings were at that time. So I guess I am in the like Jesus camp. I would love to sit down and chat with him. Is he my savior? No, but I respect his teachings and what he stood for.

Anyone else?

An interesting topic is on Krisha Consciousness tribe right now:

"All He did was lose Himself In Love. For You and Me...
When was the last time anyone died for you?
People just either LOVE or Hate Him...
Not so with Buddha Krishan Mohammad et al.
Why?
What did Jesus do to deserve this?
Oh yea I forgot He loved The lost and repentant Humble childlike that had ears to hear, and cursed all the "pious" self rightious vipers that stunk up the temples.

Which group are you in? "

Thought maybe some of you could check out the post and replies and share thoughts.
