Dear Friends:
Here is the saying we have taken into our meditations and prayers since last week:
(40) Jesus said, "A grapevine has been planted outside of the father, but being unsound, it will be pulled up by its roots and destroyed."

Re: GoT saying 40
Wed, July 13, 2005 - 4:46 PMmy understanding of the use of the grapes and vines throughout the gospels and sayings of Christ is that they often implied lineages, traditions, teachings.
it seems, then, that Jesus was saying, any untrue or misguided spiritual tradition that's begun far from the Truth won't stand long in this creation.

Wed, July 13, 2005 - 5:41 PMPerhaps the grapevine/tradition is that of the Pharisees, who took root too much in the law and too little in the Spirit. -
