I was just wondering....We have so many excellent books and sites on Gnostic Faiths but I haven't heard of any that would help our youngsters. I have two and they really want to learn more yet most of these books are a bit too much for them. Are there any out there that are a bit more towards a child or teenager? Any input would be nice......

Anything that promotes compassion, wisdom, critical thought, and a value of seeking and experiencing with wisdom, would be a good idea I suppose, for anyone, but I'm not aware of anything specifically Gnostic that would be geared towards children.

You know, some fairly "mainstream" books are really nice and have a Gnostic edge... you'd have to read them to some of the younger kids and I don't know how young you're talking about, but here are some titles of stories that DEFINATELY have a Gnostic edge.

Anything by Madelene L'Engle, (I suspect she's an initiate of a Western Mystery tradition... her "language" is quite curious)

      The Alchemist

      The Giver

      Anything by Ursula K. LeGuin

I was just picking up Wrinkle in Time today, and also Pullman's The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials trilogy), that's synchronicity for you.

My favourite teen gnostic parable was by John Wyndham, titled The Chrysalids in the UK, maybe Rebirth in the States

I was looking online and found commentary on the metaphysical meaning behind a few fairy tales. Tales, that I enjoyed as a child! You could read these, apply Gnostic knowledge, rewrite them and retell them when you tell the stories to your little ones. Heck, because the stories are public domain, you could even work with an illustrator, mass publish a book (self-publish if you must) and make it available to the Gnostic community and the general public!

Just an idea! Check out that information here: www.denverspiritualcommunity.org/W...63

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for asking this question - our kids are still really little, but we've been talking about this subject a lot lately. These are some really good suggestions!
